Carthage Jail

On our way to Hannibal we stopped by Carthage to see the jail where the Prophet Joseph Smith and Hyrum his brother were killed. The kids all seemed to get the most out of this spot. The spirit in the room where it happened was really different, and even the kids felt that. I didn't realize that they were in the Jailers room not a cell. The jailer thought they would be safer there as he knew that people were conspiring against the Prophet.

I thought Nicole on Bompa's shoulders was so cute. Bompa and Nana loved having their grandkids there, to share this with.

Aidan locked us in the debtors cell that was downstairs. This is where the Prophet and Hyrum were going to be but it was downstairs with lots of windows.

This was the dungeon cell upstairs, were John Taylor was kept after he was shot, he was rolled in here and hid under the mattress just incase the mob came back.

I didn't feel like pictures should be taken in the room where it happened but this is the window where Joseph fell, and then the mob shot him again. To think that One Man was able to do what he did in such a short time is unbelievable and that's why it wasn't just One Man it was God that wanted this church on this Earth at this time, and I am so grateful to be a member of this church. The Church or Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My cute family, and the bond we have because of our ties to living a life dedicating to trying to be the best we can in God's eyes.

Adian fit perfect under Prophet Joseph's arm.
